FRECON was in the US

FRECON was in the US

We have been touring California with the Sustainable Industry Alliance (SIA) to explore how we can contribute to the green transition.

In addition to the Trade Council in California, the Danish Energy Agency and the Confederation of Danish Industry, the alliance consists of a number of Danish companies such as: Grundfos, Rambøll, GEA, Bürkert, Novenco, Enervex, Alpha E and FRECON. It has been exciting to experience how dairies in the US are composed and work – as they operate in huge buildings, productions and not least quantities of processed milk.

Along with the visits to the Californian dairies was a desire to take a closer look at the opportunities the Danish SIA alliance has for doing international business. Where can we see a good business case, and where does it provide value for the American dairies to resort to Danish solutions?

These questions have formed the breeding ground for an enlightening and rewarding trip that has the potential to develop into interesting openings for collaboration.

The next step for the alliance will be to welcome a US delegation over the summer, who will be visiting us and the other SIA partners.

FRECON’s representative in the SIA alliance was CCO Michael Elefsen. We visited the university UC Davis which focuses on agriculture and sustainability. We participated in a symposium focusing on sustainable solutions with the Danish foreign ministry as main sponsor.

Presentation from Leprino Foods which is the world’s largest producer in mozzarella.

Company visit at Clover Sonomawhich which has a strong focus on sustainability and animal welfare.

An exciting visit to Straus Family Creamery which is America’s first 100% organic dairy and on a continuous sustainable mission.

Visit at California Dairies which processes the majority of all milk in California.

A tour of Crystal Creamery, which with its 120 years is California’s oldest dairy. The dairy was originally started by a Danish family.

Tillamook produces a wide range of dairy products ranging from ice cream to cheese. The dairy is 110 years old, and is the state’s second most visited tourist attraction with visitor numbers similar to LEGO land in Denmark.
