Anders replaced the dream of Formula 1 with FRECON

Anders Qvist’s dream of Formula 1 was formed at a young age and further developed with several seasons as an intern at Jenzer Motorsport in Switzerland and a Master of Science with specialty in Race Car Aerodynamics. All of which is now valuable knowledge in his work at FRECON.

Anders was close to seeing his dream come true of a place in the Formula 1 engineering team. He was among the last 12 out of more than 2,000 applicants for a seat in the Mercedes team and was also in dialogue with Kevin Magnussen’s Haas team.

But after several years of hard work and lobbying in the world of motorsports, Anders did not make the final cut. He therefore chose to return to Denmark with the desire to use his accumulated experience and education as a consultant at a skilled engineering house.

Motivated by a diverse work life
Anders’ skills in mechanical engineering combined with CFD (fluid mechanics) are extremely valuable when solving tasks for FRECON’s customers.

For a long time, I have been attracted to the consultancy business with the opportunity to use my skills in a diverse work life and for a wide range of interesting customers. I got that opportunity here at FRECON, and so far, I have worked for several customers in the wind turbine industry with various tasks relating to read transport and test stands. Here, I can combine my knowledge, e.g. when we work with aeroelasticity in relation to wind turbine blades.

Unique optimization skills
How do you optimize a car in Formula 3, Super GT or Formula 1 so that it can drive as fast as possible while still complying with all the requirements and guidelines that exist in motorsports? Anders has a lot of experience in this field.

“It’s incredibly important to understand the car, what it does, how it works and why. This way of working is valuable here at FRECON and in our development projects too,” says Anders. “However, with the significant difference that in motorsports you often just do and try something out because you have a feeling that it could be right. You respond quickly.

Here at FRECON, we naturally have a slightly different approach to things. The projects are considerably longer and do not require solutions here and now. It is more about doing a thorough piece of preparation, which should also be innovative. Quality is crucial.”

Fantastic workplace
Anders has now been employed at FRECON for one year and feels very comfortable.

“We have a fantastic workplace where there is room for fun, a good team spirit and a high level of professionalism. All areas that are of great importance to me,” Anders says.

“At the same time, the half-annual treat, when we reach our common goals, also provides me with an extra gear and motivation.”
